A field of 132 were up bright and early for the shotgun 8.15am start for this years Captains Drive In. With temperatures into the 70’s we all made it round in a very respectable four and a half hours.
Brian Feaver (replacing injured John Gresty) Craig Crowhurst and Dan Jordan needed a lie down by 17th as the heat was getting to them
We scored an acceptable 85 points.
Thank you to all involved in the organisation. To all my fellow Captains, to Annette for her administrative work leading up to the day and to Jackie Crabb for all her work on the day. We raised almost £400 for charity on the day to be shared between the sections.
Before tucking into pie and mash all the Captains proceeded to the first tee to take their drives. The combined distance was measured and the winner of the voucher was Jenny Feaver.
It was a very good day for the ladies section as the winning team with 95 points ( best 2 of 4 scores) comprised of Kathy Dale, Jodie Lusby, Linda Brown and just keeping them in check James Crabb (handicap now down to 3!!).
Sarah Faircliff picked up prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin. Hazel Brunnen pipped the Captain to nearest the pin in 2 on the 6th.
It was a fantastic day and I would like to thank the 16 ladies who competed.
