Chesfield Downs Ladies Section

Captain's Newsletter - 15 Jan 2018

The Ladies Committee had their first meeting of the year. It was decided that in line with the new CONGU handicapping system all our competitions this year will be open to all Ladies with a maximum handicap of 54. This will maintain the inclusive nature of our club and our section and I will keep you informed as to any other details relating to this in due course.

The Committee itself remains as last year with the addition of Pauline Humphrey who joins us as ‘member without portfolio’ and I know she will be a great asset to Team 18. Although Virginia does not sit on the Committee this year she will continue to carry out the role of IT Advisor/Consultant and manage our website and all things technical.

It was good to get a round of the Winter Eclectic under our belts and even though we needed torches on a dull day I am sure that most of us will have plenty to improve on in the next round. Good luck this week…

The Annual Subs for the Ladies Section are now due. For the new ladies this is a one off annual payment which goes towards administering the Ladies Section and allows you to play in all the competitions run by the Ladies Section. Please pay by the usual methods.

Whilst you have your financial heads on your deposits for the Away Weekend to Belton Woods are now due. Please pay £35 by the usual methods (cheques payable to Chesfield Downs Ladies Section) making your payment clear that it is for this event. Any queries please speak to Lin Goodey or Katy Cook.

Nikki Brooke is undertaking a ‘Dry January’ in aid of my charity! Thank you so much Nikki, I am sure it is a very difficult challenge. If you would like to donate via her Just Giving page then here is the link. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nikki-brooke

Also, there is a notice up in the changing room regarding donations of unwanted items/clothing etc for my charity – the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. The charity do not have their own bags for these collections but please bring your own and leave in the changing room. I will arrange for them to be collected. It’s a great way of raising funds for them. Thank you in advance.

Let’s hope we see a bit of sunshine this week – happy golfing
