Ladies’ Captain’s Charity Day 16th June
The sign up sheet will be on the notice board this week. You are very welcome to invite your guests to play with you on the day. It is a pairs betterball format with prizes for Nearest the Pins and Longest/Straightest drives. Lots of games before we go to play – Spot the Ball, Lucky Dip and of course the Grand Silver Anniversary Draw with some amazing prizes. All the money raised will go to the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth. A very worthy cause.

Please also sign up if you can volunteer in any way. We need bottles for the bottle tombola and prizes for the Hamper Raffle. Or perhaps you would like to sponsor a hole and see your name displayed on one of our tee boxes. All offers of help are gratefully received.

Friday 27th May – There are still a few spaces for the Anniversary golf day and Ed’s leaving event. Continental breakfast on arrival. Shotgun start at 8am. Complimentary drink, 2-course lunch, photos from past 25 years on display, plus prizes and presentation to Ed O’Hanlan, followed by a Trick Shot Show to enjoy.

A New Course manager to replace Ed O’Hanlan – Andy Copeland from Trent Park will start at Chesfield on 20th June.

Yvonne Wood is leaving our golf club at the end of May. Sadly she is hanging up her golfing shoes. We wish her all the best and I hope she will still come back to visit for lunches.

Excellent Theatre trip this week to see “The Lady in the Van” organised by Brigid Kerr. An amateur production to exceptionally high standards – worthy of any professional performance. Our very own Maureen Nobes was excellent as “mam”. I am looking forward to the next show.

GOLF RESULTS

Sunday 15th May Angela Hamilton emerged the victor in the weekend competition after parring the final three holes. Winning not only the monthly Stableford, but also making hers the first name to be engraved on the new weekend trophy, the Spring Salver. Angela’s success gives her entry into the Stableford final and the Cup Winners Cup in October. A very successful day, Angela.

Tuesday

An exciting new competition was played this week. In addition to the May Stableford we played the initial round of the Womens England Golf Trust competition. The winners of Div 1 and Div 2 combine their scores to qualify for the Final. The top 30 scores nationally will represent their club in the pairs event Final at Kings Norton Golf Club near Birmingham on 16th August. With an aggregate of 78 points we are currently lieing in first place. Although there are still several clubs still to play, we are very well placed to be in the Final. Fingers and toes all crossed
